FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We’ve gathered answers to the most common questions about our remodeling services to help you understand our process, pricing, and what to expect when working with us. Whether you’re planning a kitchen overhaul, bathroom remodel, or whole-home renovation, this section offers valuable insights.
If you don’t find the answer you’re looking for, feel free to contact us directly. We’re here to assist and would love to discuss your project in more detail!
1. What is your process for starting a remodel?
The process begins with a detailed consultation to discuss your vision, needs, and budget. After that, a contract is signed with an initial deposit to secure your spot on our calendar. We then move into design and planning, followed by a pre-construction meeting to ensure everyone is on the same page. Construction starts with regular updates, and the project concludes with a final walkthrough to ensure your complete satisfaction.
2. What do your estimates look like?
Our estimates are as detailed and transparent as possible, breaking down every scope of work into its own line item. This ensures you know exactly what you’re paying for, eliminating surprises and providing a clear understanding of your investment. This approach reflects our commitment to transparency and integrity.
3. How do I make payments throughout the project?
Every project is unique, and so are the payment structures. After the initial deposit, which is due at contract signing, a payment is typically required two weeks before the project begins. Payments are then collected based on milestones tailored to your project’s needs. This ensures that materials, subcontractors, and employees are taken care of, helping to prevent delays.
4. Can you work with my budget?
Sticking to a budget is important, but not all budgets are sufficient for certain projects. If your budget isn’t reasonable for the scope of work, we’ll be upfront about it. We’re committed to transparency and will work with you to explore options that align with your financial situation. We also recommend planning for your project to go over budget by at least ten percent to cover any unforeseen expenses.
5. Do you offer financing?
Yes, we offer financing through our partner, Hearth, to help make quality projects more accessible to homeowners. We understand that some repairs or renovations can’t wait, and we want to ensure financial limitations don’t compromise the integrity of your home. There are no hidden fees in our estimates, and we receive no financial benefit from Hearth—our goal is simply to make the process easier and more affordable for you.
6. What is the typical cost of a bathroom remodel?
For a guest bathroom, prices typically start around $25,000. A primary bathroom remodel, which often involves more features and customization, starts around $35,000. These estimates include all aspects of the remodel, from demolition and plumbing to tiling and fixtures.
7. What is the typical cost of a kitchen remodel?
A basic kitchen remodel starts around $60,000. More extensive remodels, including custom cabinetry, high-end appliances, and luxury finishes, can range from $100,000 to $150,000. Detailed estimates outline each aspect of the project, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
8. What is the typical cost of a whole house remodel?
A whole house remodel typically starts at $100 per square foot. More extensive remodels, involving structural changes, luxury finishes, and high-end materials, will increase in cost from there. We provide detailed estimates to ensure you have a clear understanding of your investment.
9. What is the minimum size of a project you will take on?
Projects generally require a minimum budget of $25,000. While some exceptions may be made, projects below this threshold often do not provide the best value. This minimum allows us to dedicate the necessary time and resources to ensure high-quality results.
10. Do you work on condos, townhomes, or commercial projects?
No, we only work on single-family residential homes. During remodels, our tool trailers stay on-site to ensure we have everything we need to complete your project efficiently. Because of this, we require ample space to accommodate our trailers, which is one of the reasons we focus exclusively on single-family homes.
11. How far in advance do I need to schedule a remodel?
It’s recommended to schedule your remodel several months in advance, especially during peak seasons, as our calendar fills up quickly. Planning ahead secures your preferred start date and allows ample time for design, planning, and material selection.
12. Do you offer design services as part of the remodel?
While we specialize in the physical aspects of your remodel, we work closely with you during the design and planning phase to ensure the layout meets your vision. If you require more extensive design services, such as material and color selection, we’re happy to collaborate with your chosen designer.
13. What should I do to prepare my home for the remodel?
After the contract is signed, you’ll receive a detailed "What to Expect" document outlining everything you need to know to get ready. This guide covers important steps like clearing out the work area, removing personal items, securing pets, and setting up temporary living arrangements if necessary.
14. What is your policy on change orders?
Change orders are sometimes necessary when altering the scope of work after the project has begun. For large change orders, payment is due in full immediately upon approval. Smaller change orders will be added to the next scheduled draw, at our discretion.
15. How do you manage multiple projects at the same time?
We have a well-organized system in place to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Our team is divided and assigned to specific jobs, ensuring that each project receives the attention it deserves. Detailed scheduling, clear communication, and regular progress updates keep everything on track.
16. How do you handle project clean-up?
We prioritize maintaining a clean and organized work environment. During demolition and other heavy trash days, a dump trailer is left on-site to manage debris efficiently. For the rest of the project, leftover materials and debris are kept organized, with designated trash days to collect and dispose of debris.
17. Do you offer any warranties on your work?
We offer a one-year labor warranty on our work to ensure your satisfaction. Most supplies you purchase come with manufacturer warranties. For glass installations, there’s a three-year labor warranty and a lifetime warranty on parts. Normal wear and tear or any abuse of the project will void these warranties.
18. Do you offer any discounts or promotions?
Our focus is on providing exceptional value and quality in every project. While we don’t typically offer discounts or promotions, we believe the quality of our work speaks for itself. Our detailed estimates and transparent pricing ensure you’re getting the best value for your investment.
19. What payment methods do you accept?
We primarily accept checks, processed without additional fees. Other forms of payment, including credit cards, can be accommodated, but there may be an additional charge to cover processing fees. These details will be communicated to you to ensure transparency and flexibility.
20. Do you work on weekends or after regular hours?
Our standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. However, tile crews typically work later days and on Saturdays to keep the project on schedule. Adjustments for special circumstances can be made on a case-by-case basis.
21. What happens if there is a delay in material delivery?
Since clients typically order their own materials, we ask that all materials be ordered and available before the project starts. If a delay occurs, please notify us immediately so we can adjust the schedule and minimize any impact on the timeline.
22. How do you handle subcontractors?
We work with a trusted network of subcontractors for specialized tasks, such as plumbing, electrical work, and tile installation. We manage these relationships closely, ensuring that all subcontractors adhere to our high standards of quality and professionalism. We coordinate their schedules, oversee their work, and ensure that everything integrates seamlessly with the overall project. By carefully selecting and managing subcontractors, we maintain control over the quality and timeline of your remodel.
23. Do you charge for initial consultations?
We offer an initial consultation at no charge. This meeting allows us to understand your vision, discuss your needs, and determine the scope of the project. During the consultation, we’ll provide you with a general idea of the cost and timeline. If you decide to move forward, we’ll proceed with a detailed estimate and planning phase. Our goal is to make sure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision before any commitments are made.
24. What if I need to restrict access to my home on certain days?
If there are days when we cannot be in your home during a normal weekday, including holidays, we require at least two weeks' notice. This allows us to adjust our schedule accordingly and ensure that your project stays on track. Please do not assume that we will have time off on holidays unless we have specifically communicated that to you. This notice helps us plan efficiently and avoid any unnecessary delays.
